Why should I service my air conditioner?

Air conditioners require regular maintenance to function effectively and efficiently throughout their life span. Neglecting regular servicing can result in reduced performance and increased energy consumption, as well as a higher risk of malfunction.  

Clogged or dirty filters can block air flow, cause noise and greatly decrease a system’s efficiency. When normal airflow is blocked, air that bypasses the filter can carry dirt, dust and other contaminants straight into the evaporator coil.  Systems in households with pets, or systems that are used frequently, may need filters cleaned every month or two to ensure blockage does not occur. You can generally remove and clean filters yourself, however a qualified technician should check them annually to ensure they are in good condition or in need or replacing.

A General Service is recommended yearly. During this service your technician will:

• Check & clean filters
• Check refrigerant levels
• Check for leaks
• Check air flow rates
• Inspect and tighten connections
• Check accuracy of thermostat
• Check control batteries

Identify any wearing parts that may be in need of replacing.
